Nutcracker Audition Schedule – Thursday, July 31

This earlier date allows dancers to audition while they’re still in strong form coming off of summer intensives, and it gives us more time to thoughtfully cast and prepare for this production.

Audition Make Up Day Thursday, August 14th from 4-5 PM (during the Second Skin Pop Up Sale) Please let us know in the comment section of the form if your dancer cannot attend the Thursday, July 31st audition and will attend on the 14th.

Nutcracker Fee & Inclusions

The Nutcracker registration fee covers:

  • Costumes

  • Headpieces

  • Props

  • Rehearsal time

Please note: Dancers are responsible for their own tights, leotards, and shoes.

 Nutcracker swag (shirts, ornaments, etc.) will be available for purchase prior to the show!

Petite Dancer Participation

We are excited to share that Petite I and Petite II dancers are eligible to participate in this year’s Nutcracker! Creative Movement students are not included and are encouraged to come watch the performance!

To ensure a positive experience, we will divide Petite dancers into Group A and Group B. Each group will perform in one evening show and one matinee, allowing dancers and families to enjoy the experience without being overwhelmed.

Nutcracker Mandatory Rehearsals

To participate in the performance, dancers must commit to Saturday morning rehearsals. Missing more than 2 planned rehearsals could result in reduced stage time.

  • Weekly Rehearsals: Saturday mornings (September–November) Petite Rehearsals (October-November)

  • Mandatory Rehearsal Week: Monday–Thursday, December 1–4

  • All Cast Rehearsals: Saturday, November 22 & Saturday, November 29

1. Rehearsal Attendance:

   - Attendance at all rehearsals is crucial for the success of the production. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise; therefore, planned absences must be communicated at least two weeks in advance.

   - While we strive to accommodate occasional absences, it is important to note that missing rehearsals affects the entire team. If your absences exceed 25% of scheduled rehearsals, it becomes a significant concern that needs to be addressed.

2. Consequences of Excessive Absences:

   - As a dancer with NMDA, you are allowed to miss up to 25% of rehearsals without jeopardizing your stage time. Exceeding this limit may result in reduced stage time or another dancer being assigned to your role.

3. Mandatory Week of Rehearsals:

It is mandatory for all dancers to attend rehearsals at The Braumart during the week leading up to the performance. These rehearsals are essential for finalizing choreography, spacing, and technical aspects of the show.

By signing up for Nutcracker, you confirm that you have read and understand the commitments outlined above. You agree to prioritize attendance at rehearsals and understand the consequences of exceeding the allowable absence limit. You also agree to attend all mandatory rehearsals at The Braumart the week of the performance.
